Governor McDonnell's Proposal to Increase Speed Limit to 70MPH Passes House and Senate
RICHMOND- Governor Bob McDonnell's proposal to increase the speed limit in Virginia to 70mph in rural and less populated areas was approved today by both chambers of the General Assembly. The Governor's measure received broad bipartisan support in both the House and Senate. In the House, Delegate Bill Carrico (R-Galax) carried the bill. Senator Steve Newman (R-Lynchburg) patroned the bill in the Senate. Both bills are identical. Each bill must still be voted on by the other house prior to being sent to the Governor's desk for his signature.

Statement of RPV Chairman Pat Mullins on the passage of three Republican health insurance freedom bills
RPV Chairman Pat Mullins issued the following statement following the Virginia Senate's bipartisan 23-17 vote in favor of Republican health insurance freedom bills.
"Monday's bipartisan vote illustrates just how far out of touch Democrats like Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th, and Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-11th, are on the issue of health care," Mullins said. "When Republicans asked Senate Democrats to join them in standing up against federal overreach, five decided to put the rights of their constituents ahead of the wishes of Washington, D.C."

Va. Conservative Caucus details agenda
Fourteen delegates and senators today rolled out their agenda for the 2010 General Assembly. Their focus: cutting taxes and government spending, promoting job growth, cracking down on crime by expanding the death penalty and additional controls on abortion.
