Former Virginia Governor, and DNC Chairman, Tim Kaine Agrees with McDonnell on Voting Rights
Kaine: "...Frankly everyone wrote an essay because they wrote a letter asking for their rights to be restored and most often in those letters they'd talk about what they had learned."
---Meanwhile, Democratic Party of Virginia Calls for More Guns for Felons---
RICHMOND- Former Virginia Governor, and current Democratic National Committee Chairman, Tim Kaine took the side of Governor Bob McDonnell last night in an interview with Angela Pellerano of CBS 6 in Richmond. In speaking about the Governor's plan to dramatically expedite the restorations of rights process to 90 days, from the past standard of 6-12 months, which will be assisted by asking applicants to write a brief description of their situation to speed up the decision process, Kaine stated the following about restoration applications during his Administration:
".....frankly everyone wrote an essay because they wrote a letter asking for their rights to be restored and most often in those letters they'd talk about what they had learned."
Kaine's comments directly undercut the unsubstantiated, hyperpartisan and irresponsible rhetoric emanating from Democratic officials in the state. In the clearest example that Virginia Democrats are proceeding down a reckless path with no idea what they are actually discussing, and no interest in a substantive conversation, the Democratic Party of Virginia yesterday made a stunning statement through a press release sent out statewide.
"Governor McDonnell should immediately remove this costly and burdensome barrier for nonviolent offenders to renew their voting AND 2nd AMENDMENT RIGHTS,'' said Dave Mills, the party's executive director. (LINK)
That's right, the Democratic Party of Virginia A) doesn't understand that gun rights are granted through a SEPARATE process conditional upon first being granted the right to vote and b) is committed to getting convicted felons their guns as quickly as is humanly possible
To Sum Up:
Democratic National Committee Chairman: THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE
Democratic Party of Virginia: WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT BUT CONVICTED FELONS NEED THEIR GUNS ASAP
