Predictable: Rick Boucher Misleads on His Immigration Enforcement Record

Just like his misleading ad on Cap and Trade and his truth-abusing fund raising letter, Rick Boucher is once again doing everything he can to hide his real record.

The latest dodge from Rick?  Americans for Legal Immigration asked Boucher about his views on enforcement of our country's immigration laws.

"I will do absolutely everything I can" to ensure the Executive Branch starts to enforce our existing border and immigration laws, Rick said. He also talked a great game about how tough he is on enforcement issues. Apparently Rick has been reading some polls.

But, just like Rick's record on Cap and Trade, what he says and what he does are two entirely different things.

Whenever Rick has an opportunity to cast a vote to enforce our existing immigration laws, he takes his cue from Nancy Pelosi, not the 9th District. Just a few examples:

• August 2007: Amendment to ensure that federal funds aren't used to employ illegal immigrants. Boucher: No
 (8/2/07,
Vote 814: H R 3161)

• June 2007: Provide full funding for the border fence. Boucher: No.
(6/15/07,
Vote 490: H R 2638)

• June 2007: Increase the funding available for the border fence. Boucher: No
(6/15/07,
Vote 471: H R 2638)

• December 2005: Set penalties for firms that employ illegal immigrants. Boucher No.
(12/16/05,
Vote 657: H R 4437
)

• June 2004: Cut off funding to cities that refuse to cooperate with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Boucher: No

(6/18/04, Vote 270: H R 4567)

So he strongly supports enforcement ...  but voted against the border fence twice, voted against cracking down on companies that hire illegals, voted against restrictions on employing illegals with federal tax dollars, and voted against punishing cities that refused to cooperate with immigration enforcement.

But he strongly supports enforcement.

Bending the truth to hide his record:

Once is an Accident. Twice is a Coincidence.

Three times is a Pattern.
