Unsurprising: When Virginia Democrats Are Given a Chance to Save Taxpayers Millions, They Don't
Boucher, Perriello, and Connolly all vote to keep pouring millions into 'stimulus' signs
The vote on Wednesday was simple: Vote no, and send millions more dollars to road projects. Vote yes, and spend that money on propaganda for the Obama administration.
During Wednesday's House session, Republicans forced a vote on continuing funding for so called "stimulus signs," the giant billboards for the Obama administration that accompany some highway projects in certain states. While Virginia's entire GOP delegation voted to spend the money on roads instead of signs, three Old Dominion Democrats who portray themselves as taxpayer friendly proved they're anything but. Find the roll call of hypocrisy here.
Despite having voted for trillions in new spending - including the wasteful 'stimulus' - Gerry Connolly has seen the light and is now a "deficit hawk," according to his own web site. But when the time comes to cut spending and save taxpayer money, Gerry is too busy listening to Nancy Pelosi to notice.
Deficit reduction is the questionable reason Perriello gave for supporting President Obama's $1 trillion health insurance takeover, even when his constituents overwhelmingly opposed it. But when he could cast one vote and save taxpayers millions, he sat on his hands waiting for a permission slip from Speaker Pelosi.
Rick Boucher told local a local reporter in January that Congress had to take "immediate steps" to reduce the deficit. But when the "immediate step" would put him at odds with his good friend President Obama, it's apparently a step too far.
The signs feature the Federal government's 'stimulus' logo, which looks eerily like President Obama's 2008 campaign logo, which even the White House noted:
"... is a symbol of President Obama's commitment to the American people to invest their tax dollars wisely to put Americans back to work."
It should be noted that the Virginia General Assembly wisely decided to spend hard-earned taxpayer dollars on projects, not propaganda.
