Official Call for a Mass Meeting of the Gloucester Republican Party

OFFICIAL CALL

Mass Meeting

of Gloucester County Republican Committee

of the Republican Party of Virginia

 

As Chairman of the Gloucester County  Committee of the Republican Party, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, John Patrick Walsh, do hereby issue this call for a Mass Meeting to be held at Page Middle School, 5628 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester, VA, on Thursday, March 11, 2010, starting at 7:00 PM  local time for the following purposes:

 

1.      Electing up to 200 Delegates (representing a total of 40 Delegate votes) and an equal number of Alternates to the Republican Party of Virginia First Congressional District Convention to be held at Caroline County High School, 19155 Rogers Clark, Millford VA 22514, or its alternate site, starting at 1:00 p.m., with registration beginning at 11:00 a.m., local time on May 15, 2010 for the purposes of electing a Congressional District Chairman.  Each unit is entitled to one (1) Delegate Vote per (500) Republican votes for Governor and President at their last election, so that Gloucester County  is entitled to 40  Delegate Votes;

 

2.      To elect a unit chairman and  members to the unit committee

 

And for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the mass meeting.

 

Qualifications for Participation

 

All legal and qualified voters under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.

 

 

Filing Requirements

 

Candidates for election for Unit Chairman, Members of the Gloucester County Republican Committee, or as a delegate or alternate delegate to the First District Convention(s) at said mass meeting shall file a written statement by utilizing the 2010 Official Gloucester County Prefile Form by mail, email, or in person, to John Patrick Walsh, 6569 Creek Road, Hayes, Virginia 23072,  (johnwalshlaw@yahoo.com) which must be received, in hand, postmarks notwithstanding,  not later than March 1, 2010, at 9:00 P.M.. A copy of the 2010 Official Gloucester County Prefile Form may be obtained on the Republican Party of Virginia website at www.rpv.org , the Republican Party of Virginia First Congressional District website at www.va1gop.org , or may be requested by emailing John Walsh at johnwalshlaw@yahoo.com .

 

If no more than one candidate files for election to any office to be voted upon at the mass meeting, that candidate will be declared elected. If fewer than the maximum number of Delegates than Gloucester County is entitled to at any District convention prefile, all properly prefiled candidates shall be deemed elected. If only one candidate files for all offices to be voted upon at the mass meeting, then no mass meeting will be held.

 

Prefiling/Registration Fees

 

There will be no registration fees for either prefiling or participating in the Mass Meeting.

 

Registration

 

Registration will begin at 5:45 p.m., and will end at 6:55 p.m., only persons who are properly registered, or are standing in line to be registered, by 6:55 p.m., will be permitted to participate in the Mass Meeting.
