RPV’s Jennifer Byler Institute 2010 Program Underway
Largest Class in the History of the Institute
RICHMOND- Last month the Republican Party of Virginia's Jennifer Byler Institute (JBI) kicked off its 2010 inaugural session with the largest class in the history of the institute. The Jennifer Byler Institute is a women's leadership training program founded in 2004 in honor of the late Republican National Committeewoman Jennifer Byler. This year, 40 Republican women were selected from across the Commonwealth in a competitive process that recognized their outstanding achievements and dedication to public service.

"What a difference a day makes! Less than 48 hours ago, Rep. Tom Perriello was standing by his good friend Congressman Rangel. But now that the public has found out just how bad Charlie's ethical lapses have been, Perriello can't get rid of that money fast enough," Mullins said.

RPV Chairman Pat Mullins issued the following statement:
"Rep. Charlie Rangel has had ethics issues for a long time, but the allegations that came to light last year were truly extraordinary," said Mullins. "Rangel conveniently 'forgot' to tell the IRS about the money he got from renting out his Caribbean villa. That's a no-no for anyone, but it's especially bad for the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee - the body that writes our country's tax laws."

Statement of RPV Chairman Pat Mullins on Senate Democrats decision to kill "Royalties for Roads" legislation
RPV Chairman Pat Mullins issued the following statement following Wednesday's vote on Senate Bill 601, patroned by Sen. Frank Wagner, R-Virginia Beach:
"For the life of me, I can't understand why Democrats in Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads would vote against sending additional money to transportation.” Mullins said.
"In its original form, SB 601 was something that should have made everyone happy — more money for roads that doesn't come out of taxpayers' pockets," he said. "Yet for some reason, the entire Democrat Northern Virginia delegation voted on Monday to send that money to the General Fund. It simply defies logic."

RPV Releases New Ad "12 Inches of Global Warming"
The Republican Party of Virginia released a new web ad today, "12 inches of Global Warming."
"Virginians all over the Commonwealth are bracing for yet another blast of winter weather, which will no doubt keep roads hazardous and schools closed for days. Forecasters from Bristol to Winchester are calling for more than a foot of snow," said RPV Chairman Pat Mullins.

RPV Chairman Pat Mullins issued the following statement following the Virginia Senate's bipartisan 23-17 vote in favor of Republican health insurance freedom bills.
"Monday's bipartisan vote illustrates just how far out of touch Democrats like Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th, and Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-11th, are on the issue of health care," Mullins said. "When Republicans asked Senate Democrats to join them in standing up against federal overreach, five decided to put the rights of their constituents ahead of the wishes of Washington, D.C."
