Mullins: Obama's 'Private Sector is Doing Fine' Remark Proves Obama Seriously Out of Touch With Economic Reality

RPV Chairman Pat Mullins issued the following statement:

"It has been quite a while since I heard a President say something that was as far off the mark as what President Obama said today. To say that 'the private sector is doing fine' is quite simply redefining what it means to be out of touch with the American people.

Only someone who has never run a business could possibly think that with national unemployment over 8 percent that the private sector could be doing anything remotely close to 'fine.' Some 23 million Americans are out of work. How he could possibly think that's 'fine' is quite simply baffling.

Hearing President Obama say this makes me wonder, do other Democrats think the private sector is fine? Does Tim Kaine think the private sector is fine? Does Mark Warner think the private sector is fine? Because if these politicians think that 8 percent-plus unemployment reflects a 'fine' private sector, Virginians need to know that as soon as possible.

If nothing else, the President's statement demonstrates yet again that Obama's Presidency just hasn't lived up to the promise of his 2008 campaign.  In November Virginians will vote for real leadership, and elect Mitt Romney President of the United States."
