OFFICIAL CALL

Party Canvass of 81st Legislative District

of the Republican Party of Virginia

As Chairman of the 81st Legislative District Committee of the Republican Party, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Brenda Haegley, do hereby issue this call for a Party Canvass to be held from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM local time on Saturday November 29, 2008 for the following purpose of nominating a Republican candidate for the Virginia House Of Delegates from the 81st District to be voted for in the special election on January 6, 2009.

The location for this Canvass shall be at the following:

            a. Back Bay Christian Assembly, 1212 Princes Anne Rd., for qualified voters residing in the Blackwater, Creeds, and Capps Shop Precincts of Virginia Beach.

            b. The Village at Rainbow Station 1973 Sandbridge Rd. Va. Beach, VA 23456., for qualified voters residing in the Corporate Landing Culver, Magic Hollow, Ocean Lakes, Redwing, Seatack, Sigma, and Upton precincts of Virginia Beach.

            c. Grassfield High School 2007 Grizzly Trail Chesapeake, VA 23323 for qualified voters residing in the Bells Mill 1, Bethel, Grassfield, Green Sea, and Indian Creek precincts of Chesapeake.

Qualifications for Participation

All legal and qualified voters of 81st Legislative District under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts. A person otherwise qualified hereunder shall not have participated in Virginia in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party after March 1, 2004, unless such voter renounces affiliation with any other party in writing, and expresses in writing that he/she is in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and intends, at the time of the writing, to support the nominees of the Republican Party in the future.

Filing Requirements

Candidates for the Republican nomination at said canvass shall file an official filing form by mail or in person, with, D.A Ablowich, Nominations Committee Chair, RPVB Headquarters, 2955 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach VA 23452, which must be received no later than 5:00PM, Saturday, November 22, 2008. Postmarks will not be accepted. If not more than one person shall file, then such properly filed person shall be declared nominated, and no such canvass will be held. The filing form to be used may be obtained from the 81st Legislative District Nominations Committee Chair D.A Ablowich (757) 721-3052 or RPVB Headquarters, 2955 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach VA 23452. A check for $350 payable to the Republican Party of Virginia Beach must accompany the filing form as a candidate filing fee.

Registration Fee

There will be no registration fee to participate in this canvass.
